In Loving Memory of Kate Kaplan

Kate Kaplan will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile, warm sweet character, intelligent wit, athleticism in swimming, and love for her boyfriend, close friends and family. Kate had 19 years of beautiful life at Cooper City Highschool and then at University of Florida, but she left us too soon from a rare ovarian cancer called mucinous adenocarcinoma. Unlike other ovarian cancer, mucinous cystadenocarcinoma cannot be screened for in genetic testing, does not respond to chemotherapy, and carries an even worse prognosis if diagnosed beyond Stage 1. Hopefully research will find a cure for this terrible cancer.
